My Collection
My Collection comprises mainly of quality boxes with quality movements of various different configurations manufactured between the early 19th century to the mid 20th century.
They range from miniature key rings with a single tune on a 12 note comb to a large victorian box with 12 tunes on a 195 note comb.
The standard way of depicting the number of tunes and number of notes played is 3/72, thus a three tune movement with 72 notes on the comb and so on.
However, deciding whether to buy a box is quite complex. The movement configuration is only one of the criteria. Then there are different makers, different sizes of cylinder, different methods of controlling the movement, the age of the movement and of course the tunes they play.
