4/52 Paillard Tabatiere with unusual movement configuration made for the American market
I've not come across a movement like this before.
Believed to have been made in Switzerland by Paillard specifically for the American Market, hence the patent numbers on the governor vanes and Geneva stop arm.
The spring housing is cast as part of the bedplate and the governor endless is mounted horizontally. Because of the unusual spring housing the drive cog is on the top instead of the bottom and so the winder goes anti-clockwise. The rest is pretty standard.
The box is in very poor shape and will require extensive repair.

The movement has been cleaned and serviced but won't run without help, so it's going to have the be taken apart again.
The movement after being partly taken apart to adjust the bearings now runs well so now it's just the box to restore.
They say things have to get worse before they get better. and that's exactly what happened with the case.
One corner was not glued up, so I gently pulled and wound up with a heap of bits. Now much easier to work on.
