2/50 Cuendet - up-cycled box - SOLD
Making a new box using a cigarette box with an embroidered lid and an orphaned 50 note movement
Both box and movement were dusty and there was some corrosion to some steel components of the movement
Movement before and after dismantling
The brass components (not the cylinder) spent 12 hours soaking in Horolene and were then rinsed and dried. The governor was abraded using a glass fibre pen, The cylinder was polished using Wrights Brass Polish, rinsed and dried. The spring housing was polished using a cotton wheel and polishing compound.
All steel components were soaked in Evaporust, washed, dried and lightly abraded using a Dremel wheel.
The bedplate was abraded with a small wire wheel in the Dremel and then painted gold. It will need another coat.
