6/42 Bremond Mandoline Petite Musique
Serial no. 43500; Circa 1882

Bought at auction in May 2023, this Petite Musique has a very nice set of tunes shown on the original tune sheet which is clearly marked as being by B A Bremond. Although a little dirty, the movement plays perfectly and the lacquered case with tiny mother of pearl inlaid band is in excellent condition.

Recordings of the tunes before any restoration work

Mandolinata - Souvenir de Rome
​A massive hit song from 1860 by Émile Paladilhe. It was inspired by Italian street music and became one of the most famous "souvenirs" of Rome.

Martha - air: Lorsque a mes yeux
​From Friedrich von Flotow’s 1847 opera Martha. The specific air, "Lorsqu'à mes yeux," is a romantic tenor aria.

La Fille de Madame Angot - Consquisateurs
​From Charles Lecocq’s 1872 operetta. "Conspirateurs" refers to the famous "Choeur des Conspirateurs," a satirical and catchy revolutionary march.

Madame Favart - valse
​Another Jacques Offenbach operetta (1878). This is a "Valse" (Waltz) arrangement of one of the show's popular melodies.

Le Petit Due - Choeur des pages
​From Charles Lecocq’s 1878 operetta The Little Duke. "Choeur des pages" is a light, playful chorus sung by the court pages.

Yedda - Valse
​A "Valse" from the 1879 ballet Yedda by Olivier Métra. This ballet was famously staged at the Paris Opéra and was known for its Japanese-inspired aesthetic.
