2/51 Photo Album with Tabattiere
A friend showed me a lovely Victorian Photo Album commemorating Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 that she found at an antiques fair many years ago. It has languished in a box until now.
The album holds many period photographs of an unknown family.
It is in very good condition, except for the spine, which has gone for restoration.
In the back there is a tabatiere musical movement that is extremely tarnished and has no key.
I've removed the movement and found a key, so I wound it up a bit, gave it a prod and away it went.

The Movement
The very dirty movement before, during and after. Unfortunately it has not been possible to remove all of the oily deposits from the spring housing, but the cylinder, comb, bedplate and governor have shone up well.
The smallest cog in the governor is missing two teeth. This prevents it from working properly.
A spare cog was substituted by Geoff Crowther and it now runs like a bird.

The Album
1st March 2022
The album has returned from the bookbinder and looks to be in very good condition now that the spine is properly attached to the cover. The movement has been remounted in the back cover, but needs a new glass door to be constructed and glued in place.
