1/18 Carousel with Rouge movement
This carousel arrived in a poor and dirty state with a broken base, horses with no riders, central column fixings and an important grub screw missing.
The movement plays Funiculi, Funicular by Luigi Denza (1880)
There is a gear arrangement running off the main barrel drive shaft to power the carousel.

Work involved:
Dismantle all components. Clean paintwork. Make two new riders including four arms and one leg. Attach to horses and paint to match original. Touch up where original paint was missing. Repair broken base, mask decal and paint lower band black to hide repair. Strip movement, clean, lubricate, reassemble and test. Source mini grub screw and reassemble drive shaft to lid & base using new fixings. Carefully align base so that drive mechanism rotates freely and fix with new screws. Unfortunately it didn't work for very long, until I realised that there was a collet missing that took pressure from the vertical drive shaft off the mechanism. Easily purchased and fitted. My granddaughter is delighted with it! Click to see in operation and hear Funiculi, Funicular
