4/50 George Baker & Co. Cartel
Serial no. 15172; Gamme no. TBC; Circa 1895

Bought at Semley auction, mainly because I liked the case and thought it might be a good project to try out some new skills.
This little box has seen some life, and abuse, over the years, but now it sings again.

Having gone part-way with restoration, finding more and more issues, I decided to entrust the remaining work to The Music Box Restorer as the cylinder needed repining, the governor needed a rebuild and the comb and dampers needed repair.
​Below is the result of our labours and I'm very pleased, except I haven more tune to identify before I can produce a replica tune sheet.

Tune 1

Tune 1
Little Annie Rooney is a song written by Irish singer Michael Nolan in 1889. Rivers Cuomo recorded a short cover of the song's chorus (under the title "He's My Sweetheart," or "Ode to Pat Finn") in the early 90s.

Tune 3
Parigi, o cara, noi lasceremo ("We will leave Paris, O beloved") by Guiseppi Verdi from the opera La Traviata (The Fallen Woman) first performed on 6th March 1853 at La Fenice opera house in Venice.

Tune 4
​Soldiers Chorus ("Déposons les armes" and "Gloire immortelle de nos aïeux") by Gounod from the opera Faust which was first performed on the Boulevard du Temple in Paris on 19th March 1859.
