12/72 Nicole Freres Cartel, Serial No. 42222 circa 1865
Bought December 2023 in a job lot of eight boxes.
No tune sheet but I have the Gamme no. 2547 so there was hope. Well actually there isn't! Never mind.
Lovely inlaid oak lid, good pins, plays well.
Has been to The Music Box Restorer for dampers, tuning and set up before going to its new permanent home in Carlisle.

We only know one tune and although we have the Gamme number, it's not registered.
I need some help please. Below are audio file links to all the tunes.
Tunes 1 & 8 may be by Shubert, but that's by no means certain
If you recognise any of the tunes please contact me so that I can produce a replica tune sheet
Thank you.

Issues with the case
One tiny loss of a bird's beak
Both main hinges torn - replacements available.
No key.
Some loss of putty holding the glass in place.
Unsure whether the edges of the lid should be black, or not. Probably not.

And so the polishing begins ...
Reassembly - 28th December 2023
Now for the case ...
One tiny piece of marquetry to repair and the front panel required some work to hide a previous attempt to repair some scuffs in the scumble finish.
The glass lid had lost come putty which was repaired using epoxy filler and then hidden with dark red mahogany stain
A new pair of hinges, unfortunately not quite the right size. May need changing later.
The lock required a key (found in my stock) and some work to cut back the latch. The keep was recessed too far so need packing to get it all to work.

Then lots of layers of shellac to achieve a lustre finish.
