A lovely small dome top sewing box with banded inlay to lid and front panel for sympathetic restoration.
Work requested:
New hinges
New baize to base
Clean & polish - not ‘super shiny’
Re-fix silk inside lid
Also discussed were a key for the lock and a replacement divider for the tray and re-fixing the hinge on a small religious icon
Work done:
Supply and fit pair of period stop hinges using original screws
Remove old baize and supply and fit new green baize felt
Make new divider for tray and cover with silver paper
Re-glue silk covering to wooden board and re-fix silk to inside of lid
Fit ribbon tab to compartment lid
Supply key and silver tassel
Surface clean and abrade exterior panels.
Polish with pure shellac.
