Serial no. 8054. Gamme no. 384. Circa 1840
Bought at auction - July 2026
The case is a bit battered, but the movement is in very good condition and runs well (see below).
I've not seen a single bent pin!
Winder key is not the original and is too small.
Most likely to have been part of a clock but later re-housed in a simple pine box that is in fact too shallow so the lid has been hewn out to allow the spring barrel to rotate.

Both tunes are from the opera Norma, composed by Vincenzo Bellini (1801-1835).
Norma was commissioned to be premiered at La Scala in December 1831 and is widely considered to be his masterpiece.
