2/55 Tabatiére in Tortoiseshell case - circa 1810
Bought at auction October 2024.
A very early sectional comb movement made around 1810 playing two airs including a trill-heavy God Save The King.
What makes this rare? Treble teeth to the left, 1x4 17x3 teeth = 55 in total.
Very thin polished brass bedplate with early type start lever to Great Wheel and side-spring Geneva stopwork.
Movement in superb condition for something over 200 years old.
Some repairs have been made to the case, which has a gold shield cartouche inlaid into the lid.
